What is Infection Prevention and Control?

Infection and Prevention and Control (IPC, often called "infection control") is the work we do, and systems we have in place to help minimise the spread of infections between individuals who visit our sites, including spread from:

  • patient to patient
  • patient to staff
  • staff to patient
  • staff to staff

IPC includes but is not limited to our policies, ethos, buildings and equipment suitability and cleanliness, audit of practice, staff training and the IPC annual report. 

 

All members of our practice team have shared responsibiliy for Infection Prevention and Control.
